What: Last summer a family friend mentioned that there was a serious lack of programming for adults with developmental differences during the summer months.  This made it hard for her to find activities that were a good fit for her daughter who has Down Syndrome.  This struck a cord with me.  Later in the season one of our Farm School families shared with me they would love to bring their son with autism but he was easily overwhelmed by crowds and needed the ability to move at his own pace.  From there was born the idea for our Mighty Growers program.

Mighty Growers has been designed for participants who may require additional space, time, or accommodations to get the most out of our program.  Together we will explore all the farm has to offer by meeting our animals, enjoying the gardens, and appreciating all that nature has to offer us.

It is a requirement that all participants attend with a caregiver, be that a family member, worker, or aid.  This is to ensure the participants needs are met at all times.  We have a wheel chair accessible washroom with grab bars but do not have the facilities to support a lift or full sized changing table.  If the participants uses a wheelchair we recommend all terrain wheels to ensure they can accompany us on our adventures into the pastures.

Please note this program is capped at 8 participants to ensure a small class size.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Farm School is an all weather program that runs rain or shine.  We have options to move our classes into the greenhouse to provide shelter from poor weather.  If the weather poses a risk (severe weather) the Farm School director will make a decision to cancel in the best interest of everyone's safety. We do not offer credits or refunds for classes missed due to poor weather.

We aren't able to make all of the classes, can someone take our spot?

Absolutely! We understand that summer holidays are likely to happen during our program and would love to see your spot filled by a friend or family member.  If someone is coming in your place please let us know in advance.
